Assumption to host ASAA 2A Boys’ Volleyball Provincial Championships

COLD LAKE - Assumption Jr/Sr High School will welcome the top 10 teams later this month as they host the Alberta Schools’ Athletic Association 2021 2A Boys’ Volleyball Provincial Championships.

From November 24 to 26, Assumption will play host to teams from across the province.

“These are some of the best senior high school teams Alberta has to offer,” said Assumption coach Jason Kozlow. “We are thrilled our bid was successful and we are able to bring such a large-scale event to our community.”

Teams from across the province will be participating in zone competitions this weekend to qualify for the provincial championship. Teams in the 2A Northeast Zone will travel to Lamont to compete for a zone banner and to represent their zone in provincials.

“I know teams are really eager to earn their spot in provincials. It’s going to be a tough competition,” Kozlow said.

Kozlow, who is also the tournament chair, thanked Cold Lake Middle School for sharing their gymnasium.

“This truly is a community effort,” he said. “This event wouldn’t be possible without the support of our school board and community. The City of Cold Lake and MD of Bonnyville really stepped up to make this a reality.”

The provincial championships are closed to spectators due to COVID-19, however, all games will be live-streamed.
