Familiar face to take Vice Principal’s chair at St. Dominic Elementary

COLD LAKE - There will be a new face behind the Vice Principal’s desk at St. Dominic Elementary School next year, and it’s going to be a familiar one.

Benoit Côté is stepping into the role of Vice Principal in August 2022.

“I look forward to being involved as much as I can around the school, and to continue to create a safe, caring, faith-filled learning environment for our students and staff,” he said.

Benoit has worked for Lakeland Catholic for 22 years, starting as a Grade 3/4 French Immersion teacher. He eventually began offering support as the Information Communication Technology teacher before shifting into the position of Vice Principal at École Notre Dame Elementary School. For the past nine years, Benoit has been a Grade 5/6 teacher at St. Dominic Elementary.

He looks forward to continuing to build off of the success of the school’s French Immersion program, while offering support to the school as a whole in order to achieve their goals.

Benoit completed his Bachelor of Science of Physical Education from the University of Montreal. In his spare time he volunteers for the Kinosoo Performing Arts Association, and the Canadian Ski Patrol, specifically a Kinosoo Ridge and Jasper’s Marmot Basin.

“I rescue and provide first aid, helping people on the mountain get to the hospital safely in a time of crisis,” he explained.

When he isn’t volunteering, Benoit can be found water skiing, biking, or spending time with his two sons, his wife, and their dog.

“Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you.”
