Letter to our Families Re: Transportation

November 9, 2022

Dear Lakeland Catholic Community,

As we navigate transportation in the 2022-23 school year, Lakeland Catholic would like to update our families regarding busing services within the Lakeland Catholic School Division.

At this time, our contracted carriers are experiencing driver shortages. However, nearly all bus routes are operating and running without disruption. Unfortunately, there are still three Cold Lake routes without bus operators.

This has left some of our families facing significant and unacceptable delays, and we apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.

Lakeland Catholic continues to take the following steps to provide reliable busing for our families, including:

  • Reviewing existing routes to ensure efficiency and reduce ride times
  • Consolidating routes to mitigate driver shortage risks
  • Consistent communication with bus contractors

This work with our contractors to ensure the safest and most efficient transportation for your child(ren) is ongoing.

Lakeland Catholic utilizes the Bus Status App, which is the most up-to-date place to find information regarding bus routes. More information about the app can be found here. We encourage all parents to download and personalize it for their child(ren)’s bus route(s). This is where parents will receive the most current updates about route changes.

The Lakeland Catholic Transportation Information Document, which includes details about frequently asked questions and more, can be found here.

Thank you for your patience as we continue to work with our bus contractors to ensure routes operate as scheduled.

Sincerely,

Pamela Guilbault

Superintendent of Schools
