A little rain didn't stop students at École Dr. Bernard Brosseau School from participating in their track and field events on Tuesday, May 17.
Shot Put, javelin, the 100-metre run, and triple jump were just some of the sports highlighted during the event.
ELL students learn about post-secondary opportunities
Earlier in the week, English Language Learner (ELL) students from Assumption Jr/Sr High School and École Notre Dame Elementary School learned about post-secondary opportunities during a presentation from Action for Healthy Communities Small Centres Manager Lisa De Gara.
NDHS students also attended a career fair hosted at the Bonnyville Centennial Centre.
NDES tours the Fish Hatchery
Grade 2 students from École Notre Dame Elementary were hooked on learning during their tour of the Cold Lake Fish Hatchery.
On Tuesday, May 10, the group of students, teachers, and parent volunteers fed, held, and even kissed some of the rainbow trout and tiger trout at the local fish hatchery.
Mother's Day Tea at Holy Cross
Preschool students at Holy Cross invited their moms to join their class on Friday for a Mother's Day Tea.
After rock painting, they shared ice cream.
Holy Cross Science Fair
Students put on their thinking caps ahead of the Holy Cross Elementary School Science Fair held on May 6.
Demonstrations and scientific presentations varied, including subjects such as volcanoes, plants, elephant toothpaste, and coastal erosion.
Judges included a teacher and pair of students from Assumption Jr/Sr High School, MD Peace Officer Gillet, City of Cold Lake Mayor Craig Copeland, and Cold Lake Aeros coach Corey Bricknell.
Hats on for Mental Health
On May 4, students wore hats of all shapes and sizes as part of Hats on for Mental Health.
Bus Driver Appreciation
On Monday, May 2, students across Lakeland Catholic Schools thanked their bus drivers for Bus Driver Appreciation Day.

Candling eggs at NDE
The Preschool class at École Notre Dame Elementary are incubating Bourbon Red Turkey, Pearl Grey Guinea Fowl, African Goose, and Saxony Duck eggs in their classroom.
On May 2, students watched as Preschool Teacher Lynette Melvin candled various eggs in order to see if there were babies inside.
The class will monitor the eggs until they hatch later this month.
LCSD Wellness Walk
Lakeland Catholic held its first Mental Health Matters Campaign Wellness Walk.
While weather conditions forced some schools to postpone their event to the following day, some went ahead and hit the pavement on April 27.
Staff and students were encouraged to use the 15-minute walk to consider what mental wellness meant to them, with an opportunity the next day in class to discuss how the walk impacted the rest of their day, affected their mood, or felt in the moment.
The walk wrapped-up April's campaign theme of Spring into a Healthy Mindset.
Face2Face Ministries
Through this week, Face2Face Ministries toured Lakeland Catholic Schools, spreading the word that through God anything is possible.
Their presentation kept students engaged through songs, dancing, motivational discussions, and other activities.
Lakeland Humane Society visits Holy Cross PreKindergarten
PreKindergarten students at Holy Cross Elementary School had a special visitor on Friday, March 18.
After fundraising the most, the class had a presentation by Heather and Nicole from the Lakeland Humane Society. The pair brought along a four-legged friend and students took turns petting Delta.
AJSH Buddy Skate
On March 17, the Assumption Jr/Sr High School Crusaders Hockey Program invited students from Holy Cross, AJSH, and St. Dominic Elementary School to lace up their skates for an open skate.
The event was held in order to highlight the program, which is offered through a partnership with the Cold Lake Jr. B Ice.
The morning started with skill development drills organized by Cold Lake Ice Head Coach Scott Hood.
Following the skill development portion of the morning, students took part in a scrimmage.
The AJSH Hockey Program skates weekly at the Cold Lake Energy Centre. Participants receive on-ice skill development through Lakeland Catholic's partnership with the Cold Lake Ice.
More information on the 2022-23 school year program will be shared with LCSD families in the spring.
ELL students test out Canadian sport
On March 4, English Language Learner students from Assumption Jr/Sr High School and Notre Dame High School tried curling for the first time.
Over 30 students received tips on how to play the sport from Lakeland Catholic staff as well as volunteers Charles Michaud, NDHS student Lincoln Michaud, and Basil Churko.
The day was organized with the assistance of Action for Healthy Communities.
AJSH Charity Cup Basketball Tournament
Over the course of this weekend, Assumption Jr/Sr High School will play host to basketball teams from Bonnyville, St. Paul, Lac La Biche, and Vermillion in their annual Charity Cup Tournament.
Magic at NDES
Magician Steve Harmer left students at École Notre Dame Elementary School speechless on Thursday March 3.
His magic tricks were paired with lessons about resilience and brilliance.
Ash Wednesday 2022
On Wednesday, March 2, our staff and students took part in Ash Wednesday ceremonies at their respective parishes and schools.
SDES students hit the slopes
St. Dominic Elementary School students hit the slopes on March 1 for skiing, snowboarding, and tubing at Kinosoo Ridge Resort.
Pink Shirt Day
On February 23, staff and students across the division wore pink in support of Pink Shirt Day, a national Bullying Awareness initiative.
Valentine's Day across LCSD
On February 14, students and staff across Lakeland Catholic celebrated Valentine's Day.
This included a visit by Actions for Healthy Communities, where local representatives shared information with English Language Learner students at Notre Dame High School.

On December 17, Notre Dame High School and Dr. Bernard Brosseau students spent part of their morning on the ice at the RJ Lalonde Arena as part of the Bonnyville Hockey Program.
Some of the Bonnyville Jr. A Pontiacs joined the Dr. Brosseau teams, while the high school students had some fun playing five-on-five.

Assumption Jr/Sr High School has welcomed some of the province's best senior boys' volleyball teams as they host the ASAA 2A Boys' Volleyball Provincial Championship.

Remembrance Day Liturgy
Staff, students, and visitors gathered at St. Louis Parish on November 10 for the École Notre Dame High School Remembrance Day Liturgy.
No Stone Left Alone
On November 10, a group of École Notre Dame High School Grade 12 students visited local cemeteries to pay their respects to the soldiers who paid the ultimate price for their country.
The No Stone Left Alone ceremony is held every year.
NDES Cereal Box Dominos
With 240 boxes of cereal collected, École Notre Dame Elementary had plenty of donations to work with when building their Cereal Box Dominos.
Starting at the library, the cereal boxes lined the front entryway, down the hall, and around two corners before coming to an end.
Students cheered as one after another toppled over on November 5.
Nicole Mitchell from the Bonnyville Friendship Centre was on-hand to accept the donation.
2021 Division Celebration
On November 1, the Lakeland Catholic School Division celebrated their Alberta Teachers' Association (ATA) inductees, Long Standing Service awardees, and retirees.

Trustees sworn-in
Members of the new Board of Trustees were sworn-in before their first meeting on October 20, 2021.
Prior to making their way to Central Office, trustees attended mass at the St. Louis Parish Hall.
Bus Safety Week 2021
October 17-23 marked Bus Safety Week. Schools across the division had presentations on bus safety. These included in-class lessons before putting what they learned to the test on a school bus.

Across the Lakeland Catholic School Division, staff and students took part in Orange Shirt Day on September 29.
École Notre Dame High School's Hungry for the Homeless Campaign 2021
Every year, École Notre Dame High School (NDHS) students collect Food Bank donations and fundraise for the Bonnyville Friendship Centre through their Hungry for the Homeless Campaign.
On September 23, students collected two NDHS buses worth of donations for the Food Bank and $2,900 for the Friendship Centre.
AJSH Student Vote 2021
Assumption Jr/Sr High School students took part in a Student Vote on Friday, Sept. 17.
Back to School 2021
Students in Grades 1-12 were back in the classroom for their first day of school on August 31, while their younger counterparts in Kindergarten started staggered on September 1.
