Happy National French Immersion Day!
Since 1972, French Immersion has empowered students across Canada to grow as curious, confident, and bilingual learners.
At Lakeland Catholic, we are proud to be part of this national journey - celebrating the many benefits of learning in both of Canada’s official languages.
Check out this video featuring students sharing what French Immersion means to them!

Congratulations to Maia, Aeva, and Charlie for being chosen as Assumption’s Crusaders of the Month! Thank you for living out the Crusader Code with positivity, kindness, and integrity. You exemplify what it means to be students of faith—upholding moral values, treating others with compassion, and living your Catholic identity through everyday actions. We are proud of you!

There will be a very important information evening this Wednesday, April 23rd, to discuss the proposed 2026 Senior Band trip to Vancouver!
The meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the band room.
This is a preliminary meeting to gauge student and parent interest. A Brightspark tour representative will join us to discuss the proposed itinerary, the approximate cost of the trip, and any other questions you may have.
I hope you can join us in planning this exciting trip!

Students in Mrs. Holba's class recreated different living quarters found on the Titanic.
They did a great job sharing their knowledge, with the admin team, upon a classroom visit.

Assumption School has surpassed the first two goals of raising $1500-$2500 for the local Stepping Stones Crisis Centre. There are still two fundraisers left before we conclude at the end of the month. On Friday, there will be Jumbo Freeze Pops for sale at noon for $1 each. Our grande finale will be an Open Mic Coffee House on Tuesday, April 29th, featuring our very own student alumnus; Reegan Dehid! Please join us for an evening of amazing music and a chance to give back to the community.

LCSD has excellence in teaching—and that includes making learning unforgettable!
At Assumption Jr/Sr High School, Amanda Grievson led Science 8 students through a hands-on activity exploring the full process of the digestive system. It got a little messy, but students were fully engaged throughout. A memorable experience they won’t forget anytime soon!

Get your cash raffle tickets today! Guaranteed cash prizes will be drawn at the end of May during our Spring Band Concert. Proceeds go to support student transportation at the school.

Our Grade 7 students got up close with flowers in a hands-on dissection lab! Using lilies, students carefully examined and identified the different parts of a flower, connecting each structure to its role in the plant’s life cycle. From stamens to pistils, they explored how flowers are adapted for reproduction and survival in their environment. Learning science is always more fun when you can see it in action! 🌼✨ #FlowerDissection #HandsOnScience #STEM

Check out the Pickleball opportunity! Open to all students in the Lakeland Area!

A heartfelt thank you to all the parents, guardians, students and staff who joined us for our High School Information night. It was wonderful to see all of the engagement and curiosity as we explored what high school looks like in Alberta and what lays ahead for them at Assumption Jr/Sr High. A special thank you to our academic advisor, Ms. Lynne Vining, for her clear, thoughtful presentation and for helping families feel confident and informed about the path ahead. We are excited to walk alongside our students as they begin their high school journey!

A group of students powered through their circuit training in Phy. Ed today, tackling stations like Spiderman planks, squats, lunges, V-sit sit-ups, and running. They worked hard for 45 seconds, rested for 30, and pushed each other through wall sits, burpees, and other fun challenges. The energy was high as they built strength and endurance together.

Students in Chem 20 were busy testing different properties of solutions to see which ones were ionic, molecular, acidic or basic. Very serious business!
