COLD LAKE - Students at Assumption Jr/Sr High School (AJSH) are Hungry for Change in their community.

The school will be hosting their first Hungry for Change fundraiser on May 4.

Inspired by École Notre Dame High School’s Hungry for the Homeless Campaign in Bonnyville, Assumption decided to take their own spin on the annual fundraiser.

Siobhan Squires, AJSH teacher, said their decision to try it out for themselves was to support the need of the Cold Lake Food Bank.

“It’s busier than ever before with inflation,” Squires noted.

On the day of the event, students will volunteer their time to collect monetary and non-perishable food donations at the Assumption Church parking lot and at Sobeys Grocery Store.

The school is hoping to raise $500 and collect enough food items to fill half of their bus.

“We are hungry for change, and we hope our community is too,” Squires said.
