Treaty 6 Land Acknowledgement

As we gather in the spirit of community, we acknowledge the traditional lands upon which our Catholic school district stands. We recognize and deeply respect that we are on the unceded territories of Indigenous peoples, who have stewarded this land for generations. All people living in Canada are Treaty people; we are all part of a relationship based on respect, cooperation, partnership, and recognition of Indigenous rights. Lakeland Catholic School Division is committed to equity for all teachers and students and to learning from and working with Indigenous communities. We acknowledge the Traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders, both past and present, and are grateful for their contributions that have helped keep this land beautiful. We acknowledge the ongoing work of educators and communities in fostering meaningful relationships, promoting cultural understanding, and supporting the revitalization of Indigenous languages and traditions.
May we continue to walk together and create harmonious relationships with each other in the eyes of our Creator God.
