Pathways to Excellence | Christ at the Centre of Our Learning

Today, Lakeland Catholic educators gathered for their fourth Pathways to Excellence professional learning day, beginning with faith formation rooted in Chapters 4 and 5 of Entrusted and Sent by Mariette Martineau.
Reflecting on St. Thérèse of Lisieux and Jesus the Teacher, staff explored how Christ's example continues to guide their calling as Catholic educators. Through the image of the vine and branches, the morning offered a reminder that faith remains at the heart of our work, shaping how we teach, lead and serve students.
Following faith formation, educators continued their work through Communities of Practice, collaborating with colleagues and strengthening instructional approaches that support student learning.
The afternoon included Division Assurance professional learning on benchmarks, led by Kathy Salmon, followed by school-based collaboration to connect this learning to classroom practice and student achievement.
Pathways to Excellence brings faith formation and professional learning together, reflecting Lakeland Catholic's commitment to Christ-centred education, instructional excellence and student success.

Help Saachi reach her goal of collecting 300 pairs of new and gently used shoes in support of Soles4Souls Canada!

United in Faith | GrACE Youth Summit 2026
What a wonderful way to conclude Catholic Education Week!
Today, students representing Lakeland Catholic's four high schools travelled to Sherwood Park, accompanied by Faith Leads and Division leadership, to participate in the 2026 GrACE Youth Summit.
Hosted by GrACE (Grateful Advocates for Catholic Education), in partnership with Elk Island Catholic Schools and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, the Summit brought together students from Catholic school divisions across Alberta, united by their shared faith, a desire to grow closer to Christ, and a calling to live the Gospel in their everyday lives.
Rooted in the theme Fearless and Courageous, the day invited students to deepen their faith through personal testimonies, lessons of hope and meaning shared by presenter Michael Chaisson, prayer, meaningful conversations, and the celebration of Holy Mass.
Gathering students from across Alberta creates opportunities to build friendships, share perspectives, and strengthen their connection to the wider Catholic community. It also reminds us that while our schools serve different communities, we are united in our mission to nurture faith and inspire the next generation of Catholic leaders.
As Catholic Education Week concludes, we celebrate the opportunities Catholic education provides for students to strengthen their faith, discover their purpose, and grow as leaders rooted in Christ.

For Students Attending the GrACE Faith Summit, that the Holy Spirit may guide and protect the students travelling to the GrACE Faith Summit in Edmonton, keeping them safe on their journey and opening their hearts to encounter Christ, grow in faith, and be transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit.
