Yesterday, every member of the Lakeland Catholic team took part in Pathways to Excellence — the first in a series of professional learning days planned for this school year.
This opening session brought together every staff member for a day of learning, collaboration, and faith-filled preparation, reflecting our commitment to excellence and our faith theme, small things done with great love.
With opportunities spanning instruction, technology, wellness, safety, and more, the day strengthened our shared dedication to creating caring, faith-filled, and engaging learning environments as we welcome students back to school tomorrow.

She reminded us of the wonder and beauty of God’s creation and how our faith theme “Doing small things with great love” comes alive in our classrooms and in our call as a Catholic community of learners. MacKenzie shared that faith integration isn’t something we “tack on,” but rather an awakening of what is already there — an invitation to see the beauty, mystery, and meaning in even the smallest details of teaching and learning.
Her message left staff inspired to approach education through a lens of wonder, beauty, and love at the heart of Catholic education.
This special day honored long service award recipients from 5 to 35 years, retirees who have left a lasting legacy in our schools, and the recipients of the Excellence in Catholic Education and special recognition awards. We also recognized Trustees Mary Anne Penner, Vicky Lefebvre, and Diane Bauer for their many years of devoted service to Catholic education across our Division.

His Excellency Bishop Gary Franken presided, joined by Father Rene, Father Nong, Father Benji, and Father Anselmo. The day began with the rosary for those wishing to join in prayer, followed by Mass where Bishop Gary Franken shared words of encouragement and blessings for the year ahead.
It was especially meaningful to begin our school year on the birthday of Saint Teresa of Calcutta, whose words “Do small things with great love” guide our Lakeland Catholic faith theme for 2025–2029. A beautiful start to a new year of learning, faith, and community.

On August 21, we welcomed our new teachers, administrators, and Family Outreach Workers to Lakeland Catholic Schools. The orientation included faith-centered sessions with presenters such as Stacey MacNeil-Ayeh, as they prepared for the school year ahead.

🚍 Bus Driver Orientation Day: Preparing for the First Day of School
Today our bus drivers are gathering for orientation as they prepare for the first day of school. As the first and last friendly faces students see each school day, they play an essential role in safe, welcoming journeys for our families across Lakeland Catholic. We’re grateful for their service and excited for the year ahead!
Important Updates:
Bus drivers will begin calling parents starting tomorrow (Aug. 22) to share bus numbers and pick-up/drop-off times.
Today is the last day to register new students for busing to guarantee a seat for the first day of school. Registrations after today may take up to two weeks to process.
Transportation fees are free for all eligible students.
