Friday evening marked a meaningful celebration of faith, perseverance, growth, and achievement as graduates crossed the stage surrounded by family, friends, staff, and community leaders who have supported them throughout their journey.
Lakeland Catholic School Division was honoured to celebrate alongside distinguished guests including Deputy Superintendent of System Excellence Jody Seymour, MLA Scott Cyr, Mayor Bob Mattice, Reeve Barry Kalinski, Chief of Cold Lake First Nations Kelsey Jacko, and many others who came together to recognize this important milestone.
Throughout their time at Assumption, these graduates have grown in knowledge, character, leadership, and faith, preparing to make a meaningful difference within their communities and beyond.
As the Crusaders Class of 2026 begins the next chapter of their journey, we pray they move forward with courage, purpose, and trust in God’s plan for their lives.

Yesterday, on Ascension Thursday and World Catholic Education Day, Lakeland Catholic Indigenous Leads came together for a special professional learning session focused on strengthening understanding, connection, and ongoing learning within our schools.
The day began with smudging and reflection, creating space for respectful dialogue, shared learning, and relationship-building as staff continue working to support meaningful and respectful learning environments for students across our division.
Lakeland Catholic was also grateful to welcome Jory Proft, a member of the Rupertsland Institute (RLI) Teaching & Learning Team, who shared comprehensive Métis foundational knowledge and resources designed to authentically share Métis history, identity, and culture, while helping weave Métis voices and perspectives into learning.
Sessions like these continue supporting ongoing growth, understanding, and relationship-building within our schools and communities.

Last evening, Lakeland Catholic staff gathered for Sharing the Faith — an opportunity for Year 1 and Year 2 teachers to deepen their understanding of Catholic education, faith formation, and how faith is lived out within LCSD classrooms.
The evening began with Mass and included reflection and shared experiences focused on strengthening Catholic understanding and supporting Christ-centered learning environments.
We are grateful to members of our Board of Trustees for attending and supporting the evening, and extend a special thank you to Board Chair Anna Brockhoff and Superintendent Sheldon Germain for presenting and sharing their perspectives on Catholic education.
Reflections and testimonials shared throughout the evening highlighted the meaningful ways faith continues to shape learning, relationships, and daily life within our schools.
“I like the prayers at the end of the day because it reminds me to be kind.” – Holy Cross student
“Writing in my Prayer Book helps me to look at the idea we are focused on that day. How to help others, or to look at how people react to others. This helps me see that everyone being at a different place in life, is ok!” – AJSH student
“I found that as I guided students in recognizing God in others and in everyday moments, I became more aware of His presence in my own life. This initiative strengthened my confidence in integrating faith into all aspects of teaching and deepened my understanding of what it means to be a Catholic educator who not only teaches faith but truly lives it.” – Marissa Willemsen
